| So remember that post I made on Dreamwidth a long time ago? Dreamwidth's now hit open beta (and how!), and I'm ready to make do on my threat. So, if you are on my friends list and interested and haven't gotten one yet or heard from me otherwise, let me know so I can attend to you! I'll need an email to do things; my email should be available to you, and so should LJ PMs. After I know everybody who want one on my friends list is taken care of, I'll start concentrating on friends of friends. And, as usual, I'm open to any questions. You can find me on Dreamwidth as foxfirefey. | |

| I've come under the awkward impression that what my life needs is a bearded dragon. They come in pretty colors, are apparently decently smart and cuddly, and live longer than rats. Seriously, though! I got to hold one at the Pacific Science Center last weekend and it laid across my chest and loooooved being petted, closing its eyes in blissful contentment, and all the volunteers swore up and down about how awesome they are. Alternatively, I want to adopt adorable rescue ratties. (They have one of that is naked. And we know how much I love naked ratties.) PLZ ADVISE. | |

| I've been writing a Python library called LJMinion whose first task is graphing LJ relationships. ETA: Coders, LJMinion code is available here. Do you want me to do one of your journal? Basically, it makes a graph of people you've friended who have friended each other. You can see the different LJ groups you're a part of! (This is an open offer, unless I get totally zerg rushed. I'M LOOKING AT YOU lj_nifty.) When I tell you your graphs are done, you can find them here--yours will start with your username. ( Example of myself. ) | |

| There's an exciting project I'm a part of called Dreamwidth. Some of you already know about it, some of you don't. Basically, Dreamwidth is a bonafide LJ fork best described as "a bunch of ex-LJ staffers rebooting LJ from the inside." Dreamwidth is not:
- An LJ clone with shoestring resources, where updates and improvements rely mostly on LJ's development pathway and contain dangerous and unforeseeable issues.
- A grudge project, where the only motivating factor for its creation is that it's somewhere that's not LJ.
- A fandom project, although it's fandom friendly.
( More about Dreamwidth and why I'm so into the idea )
( Dreamwidth stages and changes from LJ )
What does this mean?
I'm not leaving LiveJournal. I'll still be logging in and reading my friends page here and making comments. I might even be crossposting, depending. But my main journal home is going to be on Dreamwidth; my journal's already been imported, and I'm just waiting for it to hit open beta.
And if you want to come with me, or even just poke your nose around, I want to make sure you can. I'll start giving invite codes I get to people on my friends list starting with open beta, to anyone who is excited about it. If you're just curious, I recommend waiting for open launch to get invited, when things will be more steady. And if you don't want to wait for me to give you an invite code, you could get onto Dreamwidth by buying one month of paid account for $3.
If anybody has any questions, curiosities, concerns, or criticisms, let me know! Lots more information can also be found here.

| ectopic, adjective: in an abnormal place or position.
Not until today, when I read the phrase "ectopic chromatic sites", did I realize I need to see/hear the adjective ectopic associated with more than just pregnancy. USE IT IN A SENTENCE FOR ME.
Other miscellaneous facts of the now: I have four different kinds of hippy chapstick in my backpack.

| My vial of harvester ants arrived Saturday, and I made a special trip the office with bucko and megor to deposit them. (Did you know ants cuddle into a ball if you put them in the fridge? They do!) When I came back on Monday, they had tunneled all over the place! They are everything I imagined and more. I only wish the enclosure was bigger so I could have moar tunneling. They are just too efficient at it. | |

| Safely back in my apartment in Seattle. Made myself lemon thyme chicken last night for dinner, mmm. Christmas books read: 1 out of 2, in a bath lasting hours, accompanied by tea. I also got fun MAIL while I was gone! Thanks smeddley and somerled! Mr. Darcy has been busy loudly letting me know that he did NOT approve of all that leaving him alone bullshit, and by the way? This apartment is too damn small, which interferes with his galumphing. (I was on the phone today and the person I was on with asked me if I was outside, and that was the wind he was hearing. No. No, it is my cat being a doofus.) He is demanding recompense in the form of near constant snuggles. Right now he's on top of me licking himself and occassionally missing or redirecting his grooming to me. saeculorum is reportedly feeding me for New Year's. I am looking forward to this! | |

| Mister Darcy is...slightly heavier than he was before I left! bucko tells me that means he is getting comfortable here, and she also says that he definitely knows he is my cat. This makes me inexplicably and selfishly happy. Sometimes he lies across me with his paws curled up against his chest and closes his eyes in the happiest manner and purrs madly. He also likes to lie on the heater and look out of the window at the world going by below him. Last night, he slept in the sink, so I also have the joy of knowing that my cat is a sink cat. Right now he is curled around my head. My back looks diseased. The sunburn has faded into irregular splotches of tan...around the lines of where a swimsuit WOULD be. Additionally, the sunscreen has cause other parts of would be swimsuit exposed skin to break out. Now, I am off to dinner with saeculorum and esoterrica! I'm seeing Bolt later tonight with bucko. This weekend I shall be going to the Asian Art Musuem, making an ecard system with bucko for her work, submitting to the FHCRC and putting a keyword friendly resume up on job sites, and going to Zoolights...and their dreamland of GIANT SPIDERS. YAY. | |

| ( La la la )I was wrong on the return dates--we get back to LA on the 29th. I'm not sure if we'll stay there for the night or head out to Vegas right away, but there's the chance we might get back to Vegas on the 29th, yay. Maybe I could see if I can slink over and see rhapsody13 for a bit and see what the new DECK smellies she's been making are like. | |
